The North Face started in 1968 as a climbing equipment store in San Francisco. Douglas and Susie Tompkins named their store after the coldest and most unforgiving side of a mountain, the north face. “Never stop exploring” is the motto of the company that provides technical mountaineering apparel and equipment. By the 80s, the brand was taking exploration to the outer limits of the ski world, adding extreme skiwear (Scott Schmidt) to the product offering (Steep Tech). The 90’s signed the debut of the sportswear market with the launch of Tekware™. Iconic styles remain the Nuptse 1996 Retro or the Lhotse as great puffer jacket (550 and 700 down insulation). The Retro Himalayans as great down parka or classic additional layers such as the Mountain Q or the Denali fleece. Also great equipment gears like Fuse box bags and Etip glove. The North Face provides high technology fabrics such as FUTURELIGHT™, ThermoBall™, DryVent™ or WindWall®.
